Train Thoughts on Iraq

Train Thoughts On Iraq

In a time of blood and war
I am reminded of that thing -
Revolutionary Fervour
Shared by all men
who seek Liberty
or Enslavement equally
From 1789 to 1848
From 1649 to Of Late -
To want for Passion
is Unrecommended
And yet to seek for Gain
in Violence Unsavoury
Still Man is but a Beast
And will of course
Have his Way.

To the Queen of Aquitaine

To the Queen of Charing-Cross [Sic]

Oh where now is my sunshine

Does this season reflect the end times

Of our ignoble fall from Grace?

Oh where is my fair Proserpine

Her song I miss, her face

Of Spring and youth and goodness

That darkness cannot erase

For I keep her vision by my side

In a pocket book of poems

And each day I read out her name

No matter however grave

And the clouds will part

And the sun will shine

And I feel love again.

To Susanna

To Susanna one night in October 2006

fairness is the flower we seek
but must not pluck
for fear it dies
and we are left forlorn and lost
alone for seeking;
yet all love is finally alone
and aloneness feeds our flight
we must like daedalus seek the sun
yet not feel its heat.

To SL VDay 2007

TO SL V-Day 2007

‘Gentle is the flower of beauty
Which floats now in the air
We who live for love
Always admire the fair’.
